Objectives:

1.Describe the value of a reliable blood culture including identification   of common pathogens vs. contaminants.
2.Discuss  how blood cultures are utilized for diagnosis & treatment.
3. Explain blood culture collection method to prevent contamination,          

      and the role of skin antisepsis in blood culture collection.



Speaker:  Susan M. Burns BS, MT CIC

Sue Burns is currently employed as a Medical Science Liaison for PDI Healthcare.  In this position, she is responsible for regional clinical affairs for the Central region.  She holds a bachelor degree in Microbiology and Medical Technology and is Certified infection Control and recently passed the exam for Vascular Access Board Certified.
